There are many ways to get involved in Habitat at WashU! Our campus chapter is what you make of it, meaning you can come to as many events as you are able to. You are free to come to any of our events, just check out our schedule page and sign up! If you would like a more committed role or a leadership position, check out what’s available:
First Year Representatives (Fall Semester)
If you are a first year student and you are interested in learning how an SU club works and are potentially interested in applying for our executive board at the end of fall semester, consider becoming a First Year Rep! You will get a chance to plan a general body meeting and come to all of our exec meetings. Currently, our application cycle has passed for this year.
College Prep Tutors (Fall or Spring Semesters)
If you would like to tutor students who live in Habitat homes ranging from elementary to high school age, consider applying to be a College Prep tutor! If you are not able to commit every session for a semester, we will always have a limited number of spots open! Check out our schedule page for a list of tutor sessions. Again, although our application cycle for the 2017 Fall semester has passed, there will always be room to participate in college prep based on your schedule and availability.
Advocacy Committees (Fall or Spring Semesters)
Starting in fall 2017, we will have an advocacy committee that is responsible for advocacy and fundraising events about three times a semester. The committee will consist of about five students who will devise advocacy activities that correspond to a certain theme for each month. Committee members will also help sell donuts during the week leading up to the monthly general body meeting and help plan events during World Habitat Week in October. Committee members will learn how to engage the greater WashU community, learn logistics about SU, and get a chance to spread Habitat’s mission. Applications for the fall 2017 committee have now passed for this current semester.
