Bob Hansman is a Washington University Associate Professor and is a part of the Sam Fox School of Art and Design. But in addition to his service here at WashU, perhaps what better defines Bob Hansman is the work he does for City Faces–City Faces is an organization founded by Bob Hansman that works with children, teens and young adults living in public housing in inner St. Louis. City Faces’ mission is to create and provide a safe haven and strong peer-based mentorship for children living in public housing.
Bob has talked to Habitat on multiple occasions about his views and experiences on homelessness and poverty. These discussions have ranged over many topics from how rich and poor communities view each other to his personal experiences with homelessness. All of these discussions have been deeply insightful and no matter how many times one listens to Hansman speak, he/she will always learn something new about poverty, St. Louis, or oneself.
